Absentee Request Deadline for May 20th Consolidated Election

(Boise, Idaho) – Local taxing district elections will take place in 37 out of 44 Idaho counties on Election Day, May 20, 2025. Early voting is currently available in counties across Idaho. The deadline to apply for an absentee ballot for the May 20th Consolidated Election is this Friday, May 9th.

The counties that do not have an election May 20th are Blaine, Butte, Clark, Custer, Elmore, Lemhi, & Washington.

“This May, there are some important races happening in Idaho. Across 37 counties, voters will have the chance to weigh in on candidates and issues, from Highway Districts in Canyon County, Water and Sewer Districts in Eagle, to a library levy in Burley. I encourage all Idahoans to take part in the May 20th Election. Local elections are a powerful way to shape the decisions that affect our daily lives,” said Idaho Secretary of State Phil McGrane.

The types of districts up for election (though this may vary by district) include:

  • Auditorium District
  • Highway District
  • Hospital District
  • Library District
  • Water and Sewer District
  • School Bond or Levy

Only voters residing within the boundaries of a district holding an election may vote in that district’s election. All Idaho voters can preview a personalized sample ballot at https://voteidaho.gov/election-information/. Registered voters can request an absentee ballot at VoteIdaho.Gov until 5 pm on Friday, May 9th.

Important Dates & Deadlines for the May 20th Consolidated Election:

Absentee Ballots Due: Tuesday, May 20th, 8:00 pm

Absentee Request Deadline: Friday, May 9th, 5:00 pm

Early Voting (where applicable): Now through Friday, May 16th, 5:00 pm

Election Day: Tuesday, May 20th, 8:00 am to 8:00 pm
